Valentina Kutuzova - Music That Speaks to the Soul

Valentina Kutuzova was born in the city of Shlisselburg, near the very source of the Neva River. Her journey into music is closely connected with her life's main calling - psychology and the desire to help people hear and understand their true selves.

By vocation, Valentina is a psychologist and regression therapist. In her professional work, she deals with people's stories, emotions, experiences, and inner worlds. Over time, another way of expressing feelings and meaning entered her life - music.

“I help people hear themselves through the past, and then I realized that the voice is the most direct path to the soul,” Valentina says.

Even before she began creating songs, Valentina was already working with words, writing texts for her own guided meditations. Gradually, her ideas, thoughts, and observations began to take on a new form - music.

Music as an Extension of Psychology

Valentina does not consider her musical style to be the result of a deliberate choice. In her words, she did not choose the style - the style chose her.

Her music combines acoustic sincerity, atmospheric soundscapes, and meaningful lyrics. It is music created not only to be felt emotionally, but also to inspire reflection.

Valentina describes her music in three words:

“Healing. Sincere. Profound.”

Music has long since become more than just a hobby for her. It is a way of life and another means of connecting with people.

“For me, singing is like conducting a therapy session - only through music.”

At different stages of her life, Valentina's musical perception was influenced by the emotionally powerful songs of Irina Allegrova and Philipp Kirkorov, the music of Igor Krutoy, and the work of Igor Nikolaev. Ethnic music and cinematic soundtracks also hold a special place in her heart, especially those capable of creating an entire emotional world with just a few notes.

Yet her greatest source of inspiration remains the human voice in a moment of genuine vulnerability and openness.

Other People's Stories Transformed into Songs

The creation of a new song usually begins with an idea. The lyrics come next, gradually taking on a musical form.

However, Valentina's songs should not be viewed as a musical diary or autobiography.

Her work as a psychologist allows her to encounter the stories of many different people - their joy, pain, love, disappointment, and unexpected turns of fate. Observing genuine human emotions has become one of the main sources of inspiration for her songwriting.

Valentina compares herself to a film director creating stories inspired by other people's lives - except that instead of a film, she creates a song.

A good example of this approach is the song “Не ждала” (“I Wasn't Expecting It”).

It is not Valentina's personal story, but rather a collective portrait of a woman who has almost forgotten how to believe in love, only to encounter it unexpectedly once again. Valentina has come across similar stories in her professional practice, in conversations with friends, and simply through communicating with people.

What interests her most is the inner world of the character: what would such a person feel, what would she think about, and what would her inner voice sound like?

For this reason, Valentina's lyrics are based on artistic fiction filled with genuine human emotions, rather than necessarily reflecting events from her own biography.

Through her songs, she gains the freedom to inhabit completely different characters - a woman who waited, a woman who walked away, someone who destroyed a relationship, or someone who desperately tried to save one.

Each story becomes a reflection of someone else's light, filtered through Valentina's own emotional perception.

From the First Idea to the Studio

Valentina does not have one specific place where creativity happens. Home and the road have become her own special “places of power.”

An idea may appear over a cup of tea in the kitchen, in the silence between therapy sessions, or during a journey when cities pass by outside the window and the perfect line suddenly comes to mind.

Creating a single track can take anywhere from several weeks to several months. Speed is never the main priority. What matters much more is bringing the song to the point where it truly conveys the intended emotion and atmosphere.

Interestingly, Valentina considers releasing a song more difficult than writing one.

A release means that something created in a relatively private and intimate space suddenly becomes available to thousands of strangers. With that comes a natural sense of vulnerability and inevitable questions: Will people understand it? Will they appreciate it? Did I do everything right?

Overcoming the Inner Critic

One of the greatest challenges on Valentina's creative journey has been her inner critic.

Starting something new is never easy, especially when an inner voice constantly reminds you that you are still a newcomer without years of musical experience and makes you question your own abilities.

Another challenge was bringing together two seemingly different worlds - psychology and singing. At first, Valentina worried that people might not understand this combination.

Then there was the technical side of the music industry: learning about arrangements, mixing, promotion, and the many processes that listeners rarely notice.

Yet Valentina sees every difficulty as another lesson and another opportunity to keep moving forward.

“Узор судьбы” (“Pattern of Fate”)

The song “Узор судьбы” (“Pattern of Fate”) holds a particularly special place in Valentina's creative work.

She is especially proud of this composition because it was born from a delicate feeling that is familiar to many women.

The heroine of the song walks through the city, looking into the faces of passersby and continuing to believe that somewhere among them is the person destined for her.

Their paths may cross, their eyes may almost meet, yet time seems to deliberately keep them apart. At some point, it begins to feel as though the long-awaited meeting may never happen.

But the heroine continues to believe.

Chance becomes an invisible conductor, gradually weaving the pattern of human destiny. And one day, their paths and their timing are destined to align.

For Valentina, “Pattern of Fate” is first and foremost a reminder not to be afraid of believing in miracles, even when the threads of life seem hopelessly tangled.

What matters most to her is seeing listeners recognize themselves in the story.

The song was created in collaboration with composer and songwriter Dmitry Schneider. Valentina admits that she was extremely nervous before releasing it, but the audience's response showed that the composition had truly found its way into people's hearts.

That is what she considers her small creative triumph - not so much a personal achievement, but the opportunity to give listeners a little more faith through something she and her creative team brought to life together.

When Your Own Song Plays on the Radio

Hearing her own music on the radio still feels like a little bit of magic to Valentina.

Hearing her own voice on air means realizing that something she helped create has suddenly become part of a much larger world - playing in cars, homes, and kitchens, accompanying people she has never met.

Even when she hears one of her songs for the hundredth time, Valentina still pauses and smiles.

The feeling combines pride, gratitude, and a lingering sense of disbelief that it is really happening.

Feedback from listeners is equally important to her.

Comments, messages, and personal stories from listeners have become a kind of creative compass. The most meaningful moments are when someone does not simply say “thank you,” but shares the emotions the song awakened or explains how it became connected with an event in their own life.

One of the most important messages Valentina wants to convey through her music is simple: there is nothing frightening about loving, and there is nothing wrong with feeling deeply.

Valentina wants her songs to feel like an embrace on a difficult day - and like permission for listeners to simply be themselves.

This idea naturally brings together the two central parts of her life: psychology and music.

New Songs and Big Plans

Today, Valentina continues to work on new material. After the release of “I Wasn't Expecting It,” many new ideas emerged, gradually developing into a larger story - a journey from silence to finding one's own voice, from loneliness to having the courage to let another person into one's life.

At the same time, she continues to create her own guided meditations.

Her immediate plans include releasing several new songs, some of which are already completed or are in the final stages of production.

She also wants to bring her music into a visual dimension by creating a music video that would give the stories within her songs their own visual expression.

Valentina is also open to creative collaborations with artists and musicians who share a similar spirit and outlook. She believes that when different creative worlds meet, something entirely new and unexpected can emerge.

Another major dream is the stage.

For Valentina, the stage is not simply a place to perform. It is a space for genuine, immediate connection with listeners - a place where she can look into their eyes and see their reactions in real time.

If she had to choose between the studio and the stage, the answer would be clear: the stage. The studio is where music is created; the stage is where a living exchange of energy begins.

In the future, Valentina would also like to explore songwriting more deeply and create lyrics and musical concepts for other artists. Her experience as a psychologist gives her a particularly attentive approach to meaning, emotion, and the human stories behind a song.

She also dreams of creating a full-length solo album structured like a book, with each song serving as a separate chapter - about faith, encounters, love, and the extraordinary patterns woven by fate.

When the World Falls Silent

Valentina considers nighttime the best time for creativity.

It is when the world around her becomes quieter and her inner voice, by contrast, can be heard most clearly.

Among the songs by other artists that she can listen to endlessly, Valentina singles out Sia's “Chandelier” - a song that still gives her goosebumps every time she hears it.

For her, contemporary music is both an inspiration and a challenge. So many talented people are creating extraordinary things, yet within this endless stream of music, it is especially important not to lose your own identity and your own sound.

That is why Valentina continues to search for her unique path at the intersection of music, psychology, human stories, and genuine emotion.

And there is one message she especially wants to share with her listeners:

“Thank you for being here. Thank you for hearing me. Don't be afraid to feel, and don't be afraid to wait, even if you have almost forgotten how. Sometimes love arrives precisely when you stop searching for it but continue to believe. I am with you in every note.”
