Dmitry Golubev is a Russian musician, songwriter, and frontman of the band Sklifosovsky, whose work carries on the finest traditions of Russian rock. His songs combine thoughtful lyrics, real-life stories, and an honest perspective on the world, drawing inspiration from genuine human emotions and experiences.
Dmitry's passion for music began in early childhood. He eagerly took part in musical performances at kindergarten and often sang songs for neighbors on his way home at the request of local grandmothers. The defining moment came at the age of fourteen when a school friend taught him his first guitar chords. From that moment on, music became an inseparable part of his life.
At the age of sixteen, Dmitry and his friend Konstantin Kondrashov formed their first band, GiK, followed later by another project, Letalny Iskhod ("Fatal Outcome"). Those early bands marked the beginning of a serious musical journey that eventually led to new projects, live performances, and the development of his own distinctive artistic style.
Russian rock has always been Dmitry's greatest musical influence. He grew up listening to the legendary bands of the early 1990s, with Grazhdanskaya Oborona (Civil Defense) having the strongest impact on his creative vision. As a result, his music preserves the signature sound of classic Russian rock while remaining deeply meaningful, sincere, and emotionally honest.
Dmitry describes his music as "thoughtful rock 'n' roll." Most of his songs begin with a single compelling line or idea, which gradually grows into a complete story. Sometimes a song is written within hours, while other ideas may wait months- or even years- before finding the narrative that finally brings them to life.
Nearly every song reflects either personal experiences or observations of the lives of others. For Dmitry, music is a way to tell stories, express emotions, and encourage listeners to reflect on their own lives.
The songwriting process rarely follows the same path. Ideas often appear while traveling, continue to develop at home, and later take their final musical shape during rehearsals with his band. Once every detail has been refined, the songs move into the recording studio, where the final versions are produced. Completing a single track usually takes several months, and Dmitry considers preparing a song for release to be the most challenging part of the entire creative process.
He considers 2011 to be the turning point in his musical career, when the band began performing live on a regular basis. It was then that he realized music had evolved from a hobby into his true calling.
Among the greatest challenges of being a musician, Dmitry points to organizing live concerts. Beyond the creative side, there are countless technical details to manage, along with the constant hope of performing for a full audience. For him, the energy shared with listeners during live performances remains one of the greatest sources of inspiration.

A special place in his repertoire belongs to the song "Shturman George." The composition took a long time to complete. Individual lyrics existed, but the story itself had not yet come together. Everything changed after Dmitry revisited Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita, where he became fascinated by the character Nastasya Lukinichna Neprimenova, a writer who published under the pen name Shturman George. That literary image immediately inspired the concept that eventually became one of his most meaningful songs.
Whenever Dmitry hears one of his songs on the radio, he experiences a sense of wonder. As he says, there is always a certain magic in those moments, and sometimes it is still hard to believe that the music playing on the air is his own.
Audience feedback is especially important to him. Comments, reviews, and the support of listeners inspire him to continue writing new songs, organizing concerts, and growing as an artist.
Through his music, Dmitry hopes to remind people that life is beautiful and that dreams, important decisions, and meaningful moments should never be postponed. He believes that every opportunity to act should be embraced in the present rather than left for tomorrow.
Today, Sklifosovsky continues to develop creatively. The band is currently working on a new release, preparing its third studio album, refining its sound, and planning to present several new songs throughout the year.
Although Dmitry values the recording studio, the stage remains his true home. Live performances create a unique connection with the audience, allowing artists and listeners to share emotions and making every song truly come alive.
