Prog rock legends Yes have announced a U.S. tour in the fall of 2025, during which they will perform their classic 1971 album Fragile in its entirety, as well as select songs from other albums.
Dubbed “The Fragile Tour 2025, The Album Series,” the trek kicks off October 1 in Wallingford, Connecticut and runs through November 16 in Reno, Nevada. Along the way, Yes will visit Atlantic City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Memphis, Cincinnati, and more.
Fragile is a landmark album in the Yes discography, featuring classics like “Roundabout,” “Long Distance Runaround,” and “Heart of the Sunrise.”
Guitarist Steve Howe said of Fragile: “All of the band’s albums had a unique feel and approach. After The Yes album, so much came together, and [co-producer] Eddie Offord was the mastermind behind the process. While the band was focusing on just four core songs with full arrangements, we each wrote and developed a solo piece, which was Bill [Bruford's] great idea. It's quite "weird", but we were at our creative peak, determined to succeed. It gave us a confidence greater than our own belief that we had created this unusual but distinctive musical turn in rock and what later became prog." Along with Howe, Yes' current line-up includes keyboardist Geoff Downes, who was on board for the band's Owner of a Lonely Heart revival in the early '80s and returned in 2011, as well as multi-instrumentalist Billy Sherwood, vocalist Jon Davison and drummer Jay Schellen. The latter three musicians are relatively new, joining the band in 1997, 2012 and 2016 respectively.
At each show, original artwork by Fragile album cover artist Roger Dean will be available for sale on the merch table, with Howe noting: “Roger was and remains the quintessential Yes look. He still creates great art and designs – there’s no competition.”
Interestingly, the band’s current lineup only includes one member, guitarist Steve Howe, who actually played on the album. Fragile, which includes the rock classic Roundabout, also features singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, keyboardist Rick Wakeman and drummer Bill Bruford.
Squire died in 2015 from leukemia, but Anderson is still active and is set to begin the second leg of his Yes, Epic, Classic & More tour with his own band, Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks. It kicks off June 15 in Washington, D.C., and runs through July 13 in St. Louis.
Anderson left Yes in 2004 after suffering from asthma, bronchitis, and exhaustion during the final week of the band’s 35th anniversary tour. He feels like he’s still part of the band.
“I feel like in my mind, in my thoughts, I’m still in Yes, even though I got really sick and they had to carry on. That’s what bands do,” he told Rolling Stone in 2023.
Meanwhile, Bruford continues to play in the Pete Roth Trio, a jazz ensemble led by his former drum tech. They’ll play Japan later this month and head to the U.K., Italy, and Spain in July.
Wakeman is also touring this summer. His Strictly Wakeman tour, featuring Hayley Sanderson, a singer from the British TV show Strictly Come Dancing, kicks off July 18 in Richmond, Virginia and runs through July 31 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
