JORRDANN (interview)

My name is Georgy, I am from St. Petersburg, I work as an engineer and am developing my musical project JORRDANN.

    My musical project was created on December 1, 2015. When I was 23 years old, I realized that I could write lyrics for songs. At first I wrote some poems for cover versions of some famous songs. Then I started writing lyrics for my songs. Some of my first songs are “Angel and the Devil”, “Samurai”, “Steps Up”, “The Path”, etc.

Before my musical project, I made remixes of world hits of the 1980s and worked as a DJ on the Internet radio “DiterRadio”.

By communicating with different people on the Internet, I met sound engineers, composers and other musicians. Thus, a team was gradually formed that is still working on my project to this day.

   I really like the music of the 1980s, there is a special powerful energy, the enormous professionalism of the performers and their individuality, the melody and soulfulness of the songs, which touches the heart and soul. This is where I get inspiration for writing my songs. I also listen to music from the 1970s, 1990s and modern music. The main thing is that I like the music, then it’s my music. Favorite styles: disco, eurodisco, rock, rock and roll, reggae, hip-hop.

   My inspirations: Laura Branigan, Celine Dion, Bonnie Tyler, Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue, C. C. Catch, Thomas Anders, Sandra, Chris Norman, Europe, Tina Turner, Cher, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Joe Lynn Turner, etc. From domestic performers: Aria, Kino, Nautilus Pompilius, Igor Talkov, Alexander Marshal, Olga Kormukhina, Polina Gagarina, Socrat and many others.

            The songwriting process happens gradually. First I write the lyrics, then they make a backing track for me, I record the vocals and send them to the sound engineer for mixing.

I am one of the finalists of the 8th season of the “First Microphone” project. For 3.5 months I was a participant in this project (2016-2017), where I actively performed. The project taught me a lot, including how to stand on stage correctly, how to properly present yourself to the public and promote your musical material.

            An important impetus for the further development of my musical project was the victory in the “Art Session” competition in the vocal category on November 12, 2020.

            We all need to earn money for a living, and with the help of creativity this is not always possible, so we have to combine work and creativity. No matter what, I always find time to write and record songs.

            Sometimes I choose topics for songs completely spontaneously. I am inspired to do this by someone’s songs, films, some events in my life and what interests me.

            During periods of creative crises, I am usually inspired by beautiful and creative girls who collaborated with me in terms of creativity. All the people I work with understand me perfectly, as if reading my thoughts.

            I have a positive attitude towards collaboration with other musicians (duets, joint writing of song lyrics, etc.), this is a huge experience for all participants in such a musical experiment!

            I choose people on an intuitive basis, with whom it is easy for me to communicate and who understands me in creativity, and who understands what I want to see as a result of this cooperation.
